Correct date August 1st ride not July!

Fonthill C+ posted for July should be August 1st....I am dreaming the summer is not half over!

Sunday, July 30 Cayuga Gravel Adventures - 160 or 100K

When:  Sunday, July 30.  Rides starts @ 8am

Where:  Start Cayuga Memorial Arena which is about 12 kms south of the Gypsum Mine Tract Trail  (approx 1 hr from NF)

What to expect:

The plan is to drive to Cayuga.  We would then ride our bikes to Caledonia, picking up the Gypsum Mine tract Trail south of Caledonia.  The Chippewa Train will take us from Caledonia to Hamilton.  The Escarpment Rail Trail will get us around Hamiton.  The Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail will get us to Brantford.  There is an abandoned rail trail heading south from Brantford toward Port Dover.  We would take this trail as far as Waterford where we would get off of the trail and make our way back to Cayuga.

At an average pace of 20 km/hr, this would make for a full day of riding, and you will need tires 30-35mm in width and to be able to be in the saddle most of the day.  There would be 3 stops along the way, Hamilton, Branford, and Waterford (on the long ride, 2 on the short)

Long option:   https://www.strava.com/routes/3101340483568151718
The route is 161 km. About 55% of the route is paved surface with the balance being hard packed gravel.

Short option:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43811707  or https://www.strava.com/routes/3120443593340478908

This route starts at the south end of the Gypsum Mine Tract Trail and both groups will ride together up until a point just south of where the Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail passes under Highway 403.  At this point, the groups will split and take county roads back to the south end of the Gypsum Mine Track Trail.

South Niagara Parkway Repaving Project

Repaving of sections of the south Niagara Parkway will take place between July 31 and August 25. See the following article from the Niagara Falls Review:

Service Road 6 is just south of Townline Road and Service Road 8 is about 1 km north of Townline Road. Service road 18 is about 2.4 km south of Marshall Road near Sherk Road and Ives Gateway is the short street coming out of Chippawa from Sarah Street
