Have a Heart: Heart Niagara

The Amici Cycling Club is a member of the Niagara  Cycling Clubs  Alliance.  Our mission is to get more people out safely on bikes, with a focus on youth.

To that end, we partner as member clubs with Heart Niagara. This local "grass-roots" organization supports many Heart Healthy activities.  Our partnership is to assist with Bike Rodeos.

How can an Amici have a heart and help?

Let's show the Cycling community that we are not only great friends with a great chain heart on our jersey, we have a HEART!

New Time morning rides 8AM 8AM

Just a reminder to everyone that our rides start June 1, and up until Labour Day, at 8am.

This includes weekends and weekdays!  Take advantage of the sun (is it here yet?)

Wednesday Social Ride

The weather forecast is looking very favourable, fingers crossed.

Let's all meet at Counterpart Brewing, 3659 Stanley Ave. There's plenty of parking at the side and around the back.

Louann plans to lead the group out of Counterpart towards Queenston Heights where we'll ride past the Lilac Garden near the Floral Clock.

Historically the Lilac Garden is in full bloom this time of year. It could be a little delayed this season. Hopefully the Lilac scents will be in the air.

Once past the Floral Clock we will make our way to Whirlpool Rd and pick up the City bike path which will lead us straight to Counterpart.

We wish to see you there,

Sunday May 19 B+A

Today we'll do approx 75 km,   head out towrds the wind and return easily with the tailwind,

Average 28kpm

Saturday "A" ride

I'm not posting anything until we see what the weather, rain and wind is doing  :):)

But whatever we decide,  we're do'in it.

Who will be our "Spirit of Amici for 2019"

The Spirit of Amici Award is an honour that can be accomplished by anyone in our Club,

It's not about the fastest, most rides attended or most kilometers ridden.

It's awarded to the person who most exemplifies the true meaning of "Friends for life", The person who is an example of the "Spirit of Amici"

When you feel that someone in our club has demonstrated a friendly gesture towards another member, their name should be forwarded for a nomination. At the end of the season we tally up the nominations and the Amici with the most will be honoured.

So please take the time to nominate your friends,  each nomination must be accompanied with a brief explanation telling us what your favored person has done.

You can receive the Amici award more than once while you are a member. But you cannot receive it two years in a row,

Last years winner was Bev Wright.

All nominations must be sent to this email address,     nbt@cogeco.net

Let's all continue to make Amici fun and great

Sending an S.O.S. for the R.O.S. "Ride of Silence" Wednesday May 15th !

It's important that we all make an effort to attend the "Ride of Silence" event this Wednesday May 15th at Firemen's Park with the ride starting at 7:00 pm! We need a show of strength from our members to commemorate  those who have been seriously injured our died as a result of riding their bicycles! By participating you communicate to our community that bicycles have a place on our roads by making ourselves visible at the only local version of this annual worldwide event. We encourage everyone to come sporting your Club colours as we join with others to ride on either the 10 km or 5km routes. Tell your friends and family to come, it's a free event!  We especially want parents and children to feel welcomed as we have added a new 5 km. family friendly ride that travels through some of the nearby neighbourhood streets and pathways. Hope to see many of your there on Wednesday!

"We are all stronger when we ride together, when we can do so safely."
