"Turkey Season Part 2"

We'll return for a second visit to Turkey Point for a mountain biking experience second to none in southern Ontario! Our plan is to gather at Firemens at 8:00 am on Saturday November 3rd and drive 1 hour and 45 minutes to Turkey Point Provincial Park to begin our day of riding on the over 70 km of trails available. If there is anyone wanting to join the trek to Turkey Point from the mid-peninsula we could do an additional stop in Fonthill and pick you up. We'll ride all day and if the forecast for Sunday (Nov. 4/18) is promising, some of us may stay overnight in a nearby motel to get a second day of riding in. The trip is contingent on the weather of course, so keep your fingers crossed, it promises to be a blast! Please RSVP to either Marcus Klein, Scott May or Bev Wright if you're interested in coming. The "Second Season" it's just getting started!

It's not over...til it's over!

Come to our year end party on Saturday November 10th starting at 6:00 pm at the main hall Firemens Park. Highlights will include: a catered dinner by Four Brother's Italian Cucina; Gord Singleton's special world championship gold medal "Amici Award"; lots of fab door prizes and of course a chance to mingle with your bicycling friends! Bring your spouse or partner and a beverage of your choice and enjoy our outdoor season's wrap-up social event. Tickets are available from Eva Klein and LouAnn Singleton or at the offices of Klein Developments for $20 per person. Get your tickets now, it promises to be a great party!

World of Cycling coming to Milton

As a club we've had discussions about visiting the new World class Velodrome in Milton. Oct 26-28th the World of cycling will be coming to compete in a U.C.I. official World Cup.

If you think that your 55kph while coasting down Queenston Hill is quick. These racers will be hitting 75kph and sometimes within 6-8 seconds.

The bikes are one gear, direct drive and "NO" brakes,  the real way a fixie should be ridden.

The following links provide details of the events and their start times, plus where you can get tickets.

So if you're not doing anything on the weekend of the 26-28th , Milton is an easy 55 minutes away.

You will most likely see me there, :)

Turkey Day at Turkey Point

One the the best nearby venues for an overall mountain biking experience is on the well groomed trails at Turkey Point Provincial Park. Newbies and more experienced riders will both find trails to suit their ability levels. Come and join us as we travel to Turkey Point Provincial Park on Thanksgiving Day. We'll leave at 10:30 am to make the 1.5 hour trip to the Park and start two hours of riding at around 12:30 pm. If your coming and need help with transport or directions please contact Marcus Klein (mlein3@cogeco.ca) or Bev & Rick (bevwright17@gmail.com) and they'll try and make it happen for you. The "Second Season" is about to begin! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Save the Date! Saturday November 10th APLV Year End Party

We're just over a month away from our celebration of all things cycling, the APLV Year End Party. It will take place on the evening of November 10th starting at 6:00 pm at Firemens Park-main hall. Come for the awards, food, prizes and exchange your stories about another year well-spent on your bicycle!

"Go Longer after the Long Weekend"

Come join us for an all-day ride around the peninsula on the "Greater Niagara Circle Route" on Tuesday October 9th starting at 8:00 am from Firemens Park. Be prepared to travel at a C pace with stops for food and refreshement along the way. It's an approximateky 140 km route that follows the Waterfront Trail, Niagara River Recreation Trail, Friendship Trail and Welland Canal Parkway to complete a circle around the peninsula. The forecast is for lots of sunshine and warm temperatures. What better way to celebrate the season than on your bike with a group of friends! Amici per la Vita! We plan to return to the park no later than 5:00 pm.
