REGULAR RIDES
Beginner/Intermediate Gravel first and second Sunday of every month
Beginner GRAVEL with Paul
On Sunday, July 5th I will be leading a beginner’s gravel ride. The ride will be an out-and-back on The Caledon Trailway. The Caledon Trailway follows an abandoned rail line north of Brampton. We will start at the south end of the Caledon Trailway in Terra Cotta, ride to Palgrave, stop for lunch and then return to the start of the trail in Terra Cotta. The gravel/trail ride is 60 km, with 99% hard packed gravel trail and the balance paved road. Ideally, you should have a gravel road bike or a hybrid/mountain bike. A tire width of 30 – 35 mm would be ideal but you can ride the trail with a road bike with 25 – 30 mm tires if you would like to experience gravel trail riding. Expect an average pace of 22 – 24 km/hr, plus or minus. The ride will start at the south end of the Caledon Trailway on Brick Lane in Terra Cotta. Start time for the ride is 10:00 a.m. Travel time to the starting point from Firemen’s Park is 1 hour and 30 minutes. After party at the GoodLot Farm & Farmstead Brewery in Caledon after the ride.
