Rollin...Rollin...Rollin round the River!

Don't miss the Club's first ever "Slow Club Roll Ride" happening this Monday May 30th at 6:00pm. Peggy and Les will lead us on a slow procession, (less than 20 km/hr. speeds),  through some of the historic streets and neighbourhoods surrounding the downtown. We'll start and finish at "Taps on Queen Brewhouse and Grill", 4680 Queen Street, in Niagara Falls. Check out the description in our Ride Calendar. We'll do one of these rides each month in various locations throughout the peninsula. Come join us for some fun and frolic on your bike on Monday! Decorations and artistic enhancements to your bikes and attire are encouraged!

Shelley Gauthier Stationary Bike Race

Support your Amici riders this weekend!

A group of us will be "stationary cycling" to race for most miles and most funds collected. While you are all back on the Regency patio having a cold one, your Amici ladies will be pedaling against the clock to raise funds for the Shelley Gauthier foundation.  Shelley Gauthier is a Niagara Falls resident, injured during a cycling accident, and now on her way to the Para Olympics in Rio.  Her foundation raises money to encourage people of all abilities to participate in sport and cycling.

Come to Club Italia from 2-2:30 pm to cheer on Joanne & MaryAnn McKinley, Kate Moros, LouAnn Singleton, Lucy Defazio, Barb Santin and Bev Wright.  We'll need your support as one of the guys we are racing against is our own Gord Singleton!

You can donate by going to www.sgpsf.ca/sbr.html.

The Top Ten Reasons Why I'm not Riding this Weekend

10.  I thought "Friends for Life" was a dating service, turns out it was a cycling club, go figure!

  9.  I'm having my roots done...see reason #10.

  8.  I'll come out when I'm in better shape...wait a minute... how am I going to get into better shape?

  7.  It's too...cold...windy...hot...sunny...dark...rainy...foggy...and oh, what about that tornado that was spotted in southwest Ontario that's headed our way!

  6.  The Ride Calendar doesn't suit my schedule, I can only ride on Friday's.

  5.  I don't like those snobby Ride Leaders always telling me where to go!

  4.  The rides are too...fast...slow...long...short..repetitive...boring!

  3.  Can't I just skip the ride and meet everyone for a beer on the patio at the Regency later! (perfectly acceptable).

  2.  I'd rather ride alone. I mean social contact is highly overrated, I think? See reason #10 again.

  1.  I can't understand all that Italian being spoken on rides...<Que bella giornata> what's that mean anyway? This is Canada isn't it!

Just Ride!

Nearly half of our current members took advantage of the great weather this past long weekend to participate in Club rides! Congratulations to everyone who managed to get out there and ride with us!  So now that we've set a baseline of (48) Club members riding on this first full long weekend of the summer, let's challenge ourselves to improving upon that number. Don't procrastinate! Come out and join us on a ride of your own choosing, we miss you...really! So next time when you're thinking of coming, hop on your bike and "just ride"!

Ride of Silence 2016

Support the cycling community this coming Wednesday evening and join us in a Global Event honouring fallen cyclists. The Ride of Silence rides out of the MacBain Community Centre in Niagara Falls. It is a 10km slow route ridden quietly in respect. As a group, we will meet at the Regency at 6pm and will ride over. Alternatively, you can meet us at the MacBain Community Centre. Let's ride in unison - wear your colours if you have them.
