Tro-Bro Niagara Ride: Saturday, July 24 8:30am

Please see below details from Ride Leader Paul Jurbula about this "fun" ride this coming Saturday.   Registration REQUIRED ahead of time.

Tro-Bro Niagara, “the hell of the vines" is a road and gravel ride inspired by Tro-Bro Leon, a road/gravel race in Brittany (see https://www.velonews.com/news/road/hell-west-tro-bro-leon/ , except you don’t win a piglet). There are three versions, corresponding to your level of challenge/insanity- all are about 70% road, 30% gravel road or dirt trail. All start Saturday July 24 at 8:30 am at Fireman’s Park…Paul will lead the Uncut ride only.

Tro-Bro Niagara Uncut: All 95 km of it. I created this ride to be very, very hard, for me. Route at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36764137?privacy_code=6b0NWRGXzG8iPY4A:   550 m of climbing, 27 km off-road, technical. Who should do this ride? If you have a gravel bike, are comfortable on technical single track on a gravel or mountain bike, can ride 100 km in a group at average 30+ kph…this could be the ride for you! Maximum of 4 riders (plus Paul) may register. If you don’t think climbing/walking steep gravel hills, descending on muddy single track, and then climbing the hills on Effingham and Roland to recover sounds like a good time, please check out the Medio and Lite options.

Tro-Bro Medio: 76 km. It’s still a hard ride, but some of the most technical single track is cut, as is some of the gratuitous climbing and distance. See route at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36831666?privacy_code=9bpPpWQBNJvsshJQ.  Down to 389 m of climbing but still…lots of hills. Who should do this ride? You have a gravel bike, are comfortable on non-technical single track or deep gravel on your gravel bike, and can ride 80 km in a group at average 28 kph. You have no pre-existing heart problems. You dream of seeing a llama and a Shetland pony on the same ride. You can navigate using a cue-sheet, because Paul won’t be there with you. Same start as the Uncut ride, but branches off at about the 24 km mark.

Tro-Bro Lite: The 66 km version. Still a challenge. Down to 306 m climbing but retains the famous (or will be) Orchard Hill Loop and the Bauer Bumps. See the route at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36831729?privacy_code=PWtZRChum6lGi95U. Who should do this ride? You have a gravel bike or at least a road bike with fat tires (28 mm or wider) and you don’t mind getting it dirty or pushing it up a hill or two. You are comfortable on dirt roads, deep gravel, etc. and have a sense of humour. You want to see the llamas (they are real). You can ride 80 km in a group at average 25 kph. You can navigate using a cue-sheet, because Paul won’t be there with you, either. Same start as the Uncut ride, but branches off at about the 21 km mark.

Want to do any of these? Check in with Paul at paul.jurbala@gmail.com by July 23 and he will check your route preference, assess your psychological condition and print you up a cue sheet. By showing up at Fireman’s Park on July 24 at 8:30 am and saying “Show me the llamas!” you hereby waive any claim against Amici per la Vita Cycling Club and Paul Jurbala for everything, because it’s your own darn fault.

(that last bit is all Paul.   The club has insurance for this)
