On a hot hot hot Saturday afternoon after completing our own morning group rides, a group of Amici ladies met at Club Italia to compete in the first Annual Stationary Bike Race to support the Shelley Gauthier Foundation. Shelley Gauthier is a NF athlete injured while riding her bike and now on the road to the Rio Para Olympics. Funds raised were to support participation in sports for people of all abilities. With Gord Singleton subbing in to help the team out (and providing some good tips about how to actually ride these fixed gear bikes) the girls came in third place (one team member short!) Joanne & MaryAnn McKinley, Lucy DeFazio, Barb Santin, Kate Moros, LouAnn Singleton and Bev Wright (joined also by Lori Lostracco, a triathalete friend of Joanne's) rode a combined 92.31K and raised $1,120. In it's first year, this event raised $17,000!!
